When it comes to moisturizing our skin, it is so important to remember that the best hydration starts from within. One of the best ways to accomplish this is to drink enough clean, pure water daily.

However, various external conditions may dictate the need for some external skin protection or moisturization. Cold or hot, dry climates, lots of time spent indoors in poorly ventilated, forced air environments and use of synthetic personal care products which use alcohols and other drying chemical ingredients are some of the most common reasons we may find our skin dry and in need of some nourishment.

This is where a quality moisturizer comes in very handy. Now when I say quality, I do not mean the best lotion out there. While there are some purer ones, the simplest and pure substances which help to moisturize our skin come from plant oils. In the plant kingdom there are numerous plants whose oils can be extracted for the most natural, nourishing skin care routine, which add benefits to our skin’s regeneration along the way. Many people are finding that using just plain organic, unrefined coconut oil contributes to a great natural skin care routine on its own.

For those of us for whom this may be impractical or who want the added benefits of other beneficial plant ingredients, I would like to share with you Annmarie Gianni’s Coconut Body & Face Oil.

Annmarie Gianni is a natural health advocate who at the end of 2010 came out with her own line of natural, organic and wild-crafted skin care products. Before continuing with this review featuring one of her products, you can get to know Annmarie Gianni in the video interview I had the pleasure of doing with her or see my first reactions of her products and why natural products are important in the following video featuring Annmarie’s products.

The Annmarie Gianni line of skin care products was crafted by Annmarie with an emphasis on providing truly natural personal care, being totally chemical-free. Her products come from organic and/or wild-crafted sources and feature ingredients that are all listed on the label. There are numerous products to choose from to satisfy all of our skin care needs.

The coconut face & body oil was a pleasure to use for many reasons:

First off the ingredients, as with Annmarie’s other products, are straight—namely plant-based—and to the point, with no chemical names hiding in between the lines. It is always great to read the ingredients of a product and hear plant names, rather than chemical names one cannot pronounce, never mind know what they are.

Secondly, the oil works really well at offering good moisturizing and nourishing properties. It was easy to apply and absorbed really fast and really well. Only a little is needed for a quick aid to any kind of dry skin. More can be used and generously massaged into our skin, for a more luxurious experience, especially on the body.

Lastly, the scent of the oil I found to be quite delicious and refreshing, without being too strong in any way. I love the scent of pure coconuts, however this oil did not smell heavily “coconut-y” at all. There was the essence of coconut, however it came through more subtle than I would expect, wrapped in a more tropical fruity or flowery mixture thanks to all the other plant part ingredients.

When using this oil, Annmarie mentions on her site that it can solidify under cooler temperatures, and yes it definitely did so for me. Seeing that it is winter time currently, anything below 24 degrees celcius or 76 farenheit normally makes coconut oil solidify. However, I did not mind this at all, and did not even bother heating it in a bowl of warm water, which can be done. I simply used the herbal facial oil, which is not sensitive to heat on days when I wanted to use this one and found it solidified.

In conclusion, I greatly enjoyed this product and know it can definitely make a nice moisturizing natural personal care option for the body and face. It works well as a massage oil also. It moisturizes well, is made of great ingredients and smells beautifully too!
