We live on such a beautiful planet—Earth—our home, and yet as we look around we know that we have not taken care of our home in the best of ways. We have allowed toxic chemicals to be released into the air, water and soil, species to die off due to inhospitable environments that many of our actions created, while garbage and pollution continue to increase everywhere.

The good news in all of this is that many of us are changing our ways as we grow in awareness and are becoming more conscious of our actions. For a few decades now more and more people have been making a difference and speaking up for planet Earth, while they put into action sustainable ways of living.

Today, it is so beyond arguing about global warming and whether it is real or a hoax. Whatever the political agendas are, one only needs to look around at their own neighbourhood for proof of what we have done to our planet. Many streets show at least some level of litter, plastic specifically can be easily found littering both natural and urban landscapes, and gone is the idea of clean, unpolluted water or air. In larger cities, residents know all too well the toxic effects of “smog” on hot, humid days, while toxic chemicals continue to end up in our landscapes, food and bodies.

We know that there is a better way to live on this planet, if we want the human race to thrive, or even just survive. And the best part is that each day ordinary people like you and I are becoming more in tune with their actions and making Earth-friendly, or green living a part of their personal lifestyle. To get us even more inspired, motivated and empowered, it is my pleasure to share with you in this article two practical video resources to further educate and offer practical tips of how we can move into a sustainable way of life. Given our modern way of life, today it is not just sustainable, but smart to live green!

Living the Transformation

To explore the different facets of green living, I had the pleasure of sitting down with eco-conscious expert and author, Lynn Fang. Lynn is the author of the eBook “Living the Transformation” in which she discusses an excellent variety of green living topics. Some of the key topics addressed include:

  • what is sustainability and how to be conscious of it
  • the corporate side of life
  • mindful shopping
  • the benefits of life without a TV
  • sustainable food (emphasizing organic, GMO and gardening)
  • how to avoid toxic chemicals
  • how to reduce waste in our life
  • how to start a worm compost bin
  • simplicity based living
  • the importance of gratitude
  • how to grow our awareness
  • solutions for being the change we wish to see

I had the pleasure of reading Lynn’s ebook and found it to be a very valuable resource that gets to the heart of the matter when it comes to green living. It is a highly practical resource, with lots of tips and ideas, including even some recipes for making your own green cleaning products. It was very enjoyable to read, as it gives a gentle nudge to inspire us to take action in each of our own lives.

In our video interview, Lynn shared some of the themes she covers in her book, her research and practical tips for everyday conscious living when it comes to personal and environmental choices. Specific topics discussed include: Lynn’s personal awakening into sustainable living, upcycling, Earth Democracy, personal accountability, overconsumption and resource depletion, mindful shopping, downfalls of regular TV and the power of gratitude.

Lynn also shares how to stay positive and not to get stuck in ignorance and despair surrounding eco problems. She shares how to get empowered to make a difference by living and following our own values and life path.
