As we continue to awaken and take what products we put on our body seriously, it is nice to know that there are companies out there who are serious about creating safe personal care products. One area of personal care that may seem daunting for finding truly natural alternatives is makeup. However for any women who do like to wear some makeup, I am happy to share that there are a few companies who excel at providing natural makeup options. One of these companies is Real Purity.

About Real Purity

Real Purity was founded and developed by Virginia Easterling. In working as an aesthetician, Virginia realized that there was a better way to treat the skin than to rely on chemicals and synthetic ingredients. She formulated and developed products that would lead her to become known as one of the true pioneers in the field of natural cosmetics. From 1995 to present, Virginia‘s son Dr. Rich Easterling, a naturopathic doctor is the main presence behind the company. Real Purity’s products come from working closely with people and nature. Their products have been researched and developed using only the finest natural ingredients. Real Purity prides itself as a company dedicated to helping others while considering and caring for the environment, and putting people before profit.

I have already had a chance to try their mascara, which is absolutely amazing! I have been using it for about a year now and do not intend on switching as the mascara satisfies my needs perfectly. It is made of optimally natural and safe ingredients and works incredibly well at lengthening and adding volume to lashes, without clumping, being too thick or runny. You can read my review of this mascara.

In this review I will share with you my experience with Real Purity’s lipstick. Although I myself do not wear lipstick any longer—gave it up over 2 years ago and feel I have no need for it today—I know many women feel like they do.

When it comes to cosmetics, lipstick is one of the most harmful cosmetics we put on ourselves because we ingest so much of it, every time we lick our lips or eat with lipstick on, etc. Hence any and all chemicals in it, of which normally there are lots, have an easy entry way into our system. Numerous petroleum chemicals are found in commercial lipsticks, synthetic colors and even lead! This is why I always urge women that if you wear lipstick and care about your health, this should be the first thing to be changed to a natural version.

What I was most impressed with where the lipstick is concerned, were first of all the ingredients. I do not want to put anything on my skin, especially on my lips, that has any questionable chemical ingredients. The ingredients are clear and straightforward and are regarded as safe if ingested. Aside from the obvious ingredients that most will be comfortable knowing, they contain kaolin – a type of clay, and pycnogenol – a natural, plant derived antioxidant. The lipstick is rated a 1, or low health concern by the Cosmetic Database. Not only are the lipsticks paraben, lead, petroleum and mica free, they are also gluten free and not tested on animals.

The lipsticks come in 28 different shades, which gives outstanding choice for personal color preferences. The shade I tried was the Pearl Mocha, which is a light pink, with a delicate shimmer to it. It is a very gentle, natural and beautiful color. The lipstick has no taste or aroma, and it stayed on well for the duration of the event I needed it for, which was the better part of a whole day. For those wanting something darker or more dramatic, the Sun Kissed color has vibrant red tones, while the Golden Bronze, nice brown tones.

The lipstick goes on smooth and was not drying to my lips at all. Real Purity is also in the process of removing the beeswax to make their lipstick 100% vegan friendly. Currently Grape Sherbert and Bronze Cloud are available in vegan versions.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I definitely recommend this lipstick. It passes as an excellent natural product in terms of its ingredients, company mission, how well it works, excellent price and ease of purchasing.

While I still recommend reducing our reliance on all personal care products as much as possible, it is really great to know that fantastic natural options like this exist to satisfy all of our needs.
