In our society today, there appears to be a huge emphasis on air fresheners. Almost every chemical company today makes one, and everyone seems to be on the bandwagon to use them. These are however chemical products and far from healthy for us. My recommendation is always to just use the cheapest and most effective method of freshening up the air, and that is opening up the windows. See more tips on the Importance of Fresh Air.

However, what if we really want to have a pleasant or certain smell in our home? Or what if we want some more benefits than just to freshen up the air? Some of us enjoy the soothing, relaxing and healing benefits of aromatherapy after all. This is where I have discovered an aromatherapy essential oil diffuser can be a wonderful tool to have.

Thus in this review, I am happy to share with you the Ultrasonic Aromatherapy Atomizer, also known as an Aromatherapy Electric Oil Diffuser, available from Chi Activate.

I was really never keen on adding any artificial scents to the home, but that is because it is so hard to find a natural way of doing this. From candles to sprays, all of these products are full of chemicals, and less than optimal for our respiratory and overall health. This is why I was super excited to try an aromatherapy diffuser, as one can put pure essential oils into it, which are known for many health and wellness benefits.

The diffuser itself comes packed in a nice box, which also makes it a great gift idea. Inside the box, is the 2-piece diffuser unit, electrical cord and 2 diffusing nozzles. The unit itself is about 20cm long, 17cm wide and 10cm high. This is rather a small unit, so it is best used in separate rooms, not huge open concept spaces, unless one increases the amount of oil used per diffusing session.

It is very simple to operate. The unit needs to be filled with water (min and max amounts are specified) and a few drops of an essential oil are to be added. One simply then connects the electrical cord to the unit, and the other end to a power outlet. There is a power button to turn the unit on, and a timer button, as well as a tiny knob to regulate the amount of diffusion power.

The timer button has 5 settings, which include having the machine on non-stop until water runs out, having the machine on for 2 hours, and 3 different intermittent settings. At any point of course, the user can turn off the unit. I found this to be especially useful, as the unit can provide a full aromatherapy experience for a specific set of time, or a delicate all day, lasting experience. The wonderful part too, is that the unit has safety features that turn off the unit automatically when the water level runs out too low, and of course there is no open flame as in other oil diffusers, which are lit using matches.

Using the unit is really fun too. Upon turning the unit on, it lights up with blue lights, and looked like something from outer space. I imagine one will either love or dislike this look. I thought it looked really neat, especially in the dark. The unit itself is an elegant soft silver and pink color. In terms of noise during use, it offers a definite hum in the background, but nothing one would consider loud or overwhelming.

Aromatherapy is known to have many benefits and is widely used in the holistic health and wellness arenas. Depending on the oils you use, they can aid headaches, sinus congestion, improve sleep, sanitize the air indoors, relax, rejuvenate and more! The benefit of this unit too, is that it acts like a mini-humidifier, and thus increases the moisture in the air, making it easier to breathe. This can come in very handy during cold and flu season, or for other respiratory problems.

The most important thing to keep in mind when using this unit to get the most health benefits out of it, is simply to pick a high quality, pure essential oil. The one I picked for this unit was a peppermint essential oil from Aromaforce. Not having great experience with scents, I figured peppermint would be the safest way to go, and it was. It filled the space with a fresh, and cool scent of the mint oil.

When it comes to this unit, between all the settings, essential oils and amounts one can use, it can suit any occasion from having guests over to taking a relaxing bath. So if you are looking for a healthy way to infuse some scents into some spaces of your home, I recommend the Aromatherapy Oil Diffuser.
