In the personal care market today, the health conscious consumer is able to have lots of choice when it comes to picking the most natural and least harmful products. From shampoos to lotions and everything in between, there are many companies who are trying to make healthier alternatives. However, as we know clever marketing can often make some products sound better than others, and even in the natural personal care lines many unfavorable ingredients find their way into the products. This is why as conscious consumers we have to be accountable for the products we choose and make sure that we are aware of what it is that we are really putting onto our bodies, as much of which gets absorbed into our body.

One of the truly natural lines out there today when it comes to really high quality personal care is the Annmarie Gianni line. To date I have had the pleasure of reviewing most of the products and even had the chance to do a video interview with Annmarie when her natural, organic line first launched. Since that time Annmarie continues to add in new products, and her latest addition that I will cover in this review is the Radiant Skin Silk lotion.

Annmarie Gianni is an internationally known author, natural health advocate, personality and founder of Annmarie Gianni Skin Care, which was initiated at the end of 2010. As Annmarie discovered, many of the natural personal care products on the market simply weren’t to her standards where quality and effectiveness were concerned. Thus she created her own line of products that focus on being natural, organic and wild-crafted. The Radiant Skin Silk lotion is described as “a luxurious blend that will leave your skin feeling hydrated, silky and smooth. The oils and herbs in this product will penetrate your skin to keep it nourished and protected, leaving you with a wonderful glow.”

When we nourish our skin from the inside out, and avoid harsh, synthetic soaps, body washes, chlorinated water and other similar skin damaging items, many of us will find no need for any lotions or moisturizers on a daily basis. However, there are times especially during dry winters or summers, where a moisturizing lotion can nurture our skin and may be needed. Some also offer healing or protective benefits for our skin against environmental damage. This is where our focus should always be to put the most natural product on our body, as our skin is the biggest organ and capable of absorbing many of the chemicals that are commonly found in personal care products today.

In terms of ingredients, as with Annmarie Gianni’s other products they are all natural, in that they use simply the various plant parts and natural oils. The best part of this lotion is that there are no alcohols used, no chemical ingredients, and of course no preservatives of any synthetic/chemical kind.

In terms of scent, this was the highlight of this product for me. As we all have our personal preferences, I know not everyone will feel the same way, but this was by far the most pleasant, if I can even say delicious, smelling lotion I have ever come across. The scent is a deeply sweet mix with tones of vanilla and cinnamon, though I know that description does not do justice to capture the richness of what this product smells like. The main scent comes from the Peru balsam ingredient.

In terms of use, I enjoyed trying this product as it was easy to put on, and very quick to absorb. It definitely had great moisturizing properties thanks to the nourishing sunflower oil and left my skin soft and silky.

In terms of price, this is where the downside of this product may be for many people, as the product is pricier than what most would be willing to pay for a bottle of lotion, even if it is highly natural. However in the end, we each have to weigh our pros and cons as to what our priorities are. Always consider quality, over quantity in that it is better to have a costly natural lotion you use some of the time, than a cheap chemical lotion that you use all the time.

In conclusion, this is a delicious smelling and deeply moisturizing lotion made from high quality natural ingredients. Depending on one’s needs and budget, it can make a wonderful inclusion as part of one’s personal skin care.
