The story of the month for June 2010 comes from Roni (Veronica) Noone of RonisWeigh.com

I had the pleasure of meeting Roni in person in November 2009, at the Nutrilite Sports Nutrition Blogger Event in Long Beach, California.

In getting to know Roni, I found out that she had an amazing health and wellness story in how she tackled her weight, and succeeded in losing many pounds to get fit and healthy. Roni’s story is an inspiration for many out there who are dealing with excess weight as she offers hope and strategies that may work for others too. It is all about making a decision, focus and sticking with new goals and paradigms to reach new results.

Roni did just that, and her photos speak for themselves. Her transformation was incredible and I think it really shows what is possible when we commit to making changes in our health and wellness habits. Roni has been writing online since 2005, and you can find her blogging regularly on her site, as well as her food blog Green Lite Bites.

Here is Roni sharing her story with us:

Area(s) of My Health and Wellness that Needed Change

I was a serial yo-yo dieter from about the age of 12 but after the birth of my son I decided the madness had to stop.

How could I possibly raise a healthy child if I was doing very unhealthy things all in the name of thinness?

My weight fluctuated from 150 to 210 pounds for about 15 years.

I was only ever in one of two states…binging and gaining, or starving and losing.

Strategies I Implemented & Their Results

I’m proud to say that I’ve been maintaining a healthy weight for 4 years now.

I started very slowly. First focusing on portion control then moving to better food options and finally adding exercise and running into the mix.

I am able to stick to my goals and I set new ones all the time. I find having something I’m working towards helps me stay focused.

How My Changes Benefitted Me

I, now at 34, am in the best shape of my life.

Last year I ran my first marathon and continue to run monthly events.

I weight train 3 times a week and most importantly, I am able to keep up with my 5 year old son.

Next Steps on My Health and Wellness Journey

For me it’s now all about fitness.

I love running the mile faster or lifting more weight.

When I was young I thought being thin would solve all my problems but now I don’t care so much about my body.

I find that if I focus on good food and fitness goals, my weight will stay in check.

Wisdom & Inspiration for Others

As someone who struggled to find balance while attempting to lose weight I totally understand the ups and down of the motivation roller coaster.

There were days I thought I could conquer the world followed by days of binging and self pity.

Everything started to click when I realized I didn’t need to do it all over night.

That tomorrow really wasn’t the “first day of the rest of my life.”

Life was was happening now.

Thin or fat.

Perfect or not.
